Sloppy Joe Casserole
This one comes straight from the fine folks at Pillsbury, courtesy of their refrigerated breadsticks.  This dish is not only easy to make, it’s inexpensive and tastes good.
Sloppy Joe Casserole
1 lb ground beef, cooked and drained (They suggested lean beef, but I’m a cheapskate and opted for the 80/20 instead, after draining the grease I doubt it makes a difference anyway.)
1 can sloppy joe sauce
1 can Pillsbury refrigerated original breadsticks
1/2 shredded cheddar cheese (I’ll be honest and say that I have no clue how much I put on mine, I just added until it looked good.)
First thing you’re gonna do is heat your oven to 375 degrees, while that’s going on, get at 12 inch skillet and mix your ground beef, and your sloppy joe sauce.  Heat this mixture to a good simmer, all the while stirring occasionally.
While this is going on, open and unroll your breadsticks.  Pillsbury suggests to separate them into their breadstick form and cut them into quarters, but I left them together and used a pizza cutter to cut the dough.
Once your sloppy joe mix had heated through pour the mixture into an ungreased baking dish, anywhere in the 13x9 range should do nicely.  On top of this, lay down your breadstick pieces in a single layer.
Bake this, uncovered for about 13 minutes, 14 if you have an aversion to the number 13.  Sprinkle the cheese over top of the casserole, and place back into the oven until it is melted, should take about 2 minutes.
That’s it, super simple, and tastes good to boot.  Enjoy with your favorite drink of choice, I chose Cherry RC cola, but I think red flavored kool-aid would be better.  Red is my favorite flavor BTW.

Keeping it Classy

So today, a friend of mine told me that he seen the picture of my crock pot chicken dish, and that if I plan on having a food blog, I should consider adding garnish to my dishes.  His reasoning behind this was that garnish makes the dish look more pleasing to the eye, or professional or what-not.  I quickly stated that there was indeed a garnish on my plate, and that it consisted of the two slices of lovingly baked Texas cheesy bread that adorned the dish.  That’s right I garnish my dishes with garlic bread, or maybe another side, or sometimes not at all.  I’m super classy like that, I’m so classy in fact, that I choose to drink my wine from a red cup, or straight from the box if I’m feeling frisky.  We keep it straight class in my house.

Creamy Crockpot Chicken
I made this the other day in the slow cooker, I love slow cooker recipes, they are easy, and taste good.  Like I said, I threw this stuff in the slow cooker and played some Modern Warfare 3 for about 4 hours while my wife was out watching a movie.
4 chicken breasts (You can use fresh if you want, I used frozen ones.)
1 packet of dry Zesty Italian dressing mix
12 oz cream cheese (I wasn’t able to find 12oz packs, so I used 1 1/2  8 oz packs)
1 can cream of chicken soup (you can use 2 if you like, I prefer mine a bit more cheesy, so one works perfect for me.)
1 1lb box of pasta (I used bowties, i’m sure penne, rotini, or similar would do just as well.
Put the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker, and sprinkle your dressing mix over them, go ahead and turn your slow cooker on low heat.
In a small pan, combine the cream of chicken soup, and the cream cheese.  Heat this over medium heat until well mixed and smooth.
Pour mixture over chicken, and proceed to cook for 4 or so hours.
Pull chicken from cooker, and cut/tear/cube etc. (I found that the chicken basically fell apart.)
Add chicken back to sauce and stir.
Cook your pasta per package instructions and drain.
Add pasta to chicken/sauce and mix in well.
Enjoy with garlic bread and your favorite glass of wine…or a soda.
